API Pond Simply Clear

PondLive bacteria

API Pond Simply Clear is the long-term answer to murky pond water. Rather than clumping particles chemically, it adds bacteria that consume the organic load causing the cloudiness — the sludge on the bottom, the decaying leaves, the dead algae — so the water clears and stays clear. Dose 120 ml per 1 900 litres twice a week for two weeks at spring start-up and again at the end of the season, then 60 ml per 1 900 litres every two weeks through the season. It comes in four sizes from 473 ml to 3.78 litres.

Simply Clear or Accu-Clear?

They solve the same symptom differently. Pond Accu-Clear is a flocculant: it clumps suspended particles so the filter catches them or they settle, and it works in hours — the right tool before visitors arrive. Simply Clear is bacterial: it consumes the sludge and organic waste that make the water cloudy in the first place, over days and weeks, and shrinks the sludge layer as it goes. A pond that goes cloudy every few weeks needs Simply Clear, not more Accu-Clear. Many keepers run both — Simply Clear fortnightly at 60 ml per 1 900 litres as the routine, Accu-Clear when clarity is wanted now.

Three jobs from one bottle

The bacteria clear cloudy water, consume the sludge that accumulates on the pond floor, and break down algae. Because they remove the organic matter that feeds cloudiness rather than just settling it, the water stays clear instead of going murky again a week later.

Start the season and maintain it

At spring start-up and again as the season ends, dose 120 ml per 1 900 litres twice a week for two weeks to establish the bacterial population. Through the rest of the season, a maintenance dose of 60 ml per 1 900 litres every two weeks keeps it working.

Works with, not against, the pond

A bacterial clarifier takes days rather than hours, which is its strength: nothing is precipitated onto the bottom for you to vacuum, and the sludge layer shrinks instead of growing. Pair it with Pond Accu-Clear when you want water clear for the weekend and Simply Clear for the reason it went cloudy.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Simply Clear take to work?

Days rather than hours, because it works biologically. Follow the twice-weekly start-up schedule for the first two weeks, then the fortnightly maintenance dose.

Is it safe for fish and plants?

Yes. It is a bacterial product for ponds stocked with fish and plants, dosed by pond volume.

Will it get rid of the sludge on the bottom?

It consumes organic sludge over time, which reduces the layer and the load on the filter. Heavy accumulations of leaves and silt are still worth netting or vacuuming out.

Can I use it with Pond Accu-Clear?

Yes. Accu-Clear clears the water quickly and Simply Clear deals with the organic matter that caused the cloudiness.

Is API Pond Simply Clear available in South Africa?

Yes — Jungle Aquatics in Fourways, Johannesburg stocks all four sizes and delivers nationwide; live pricing and stock are on jungleaquatics.com.
