API Goldfish Care Pack

GoldfishTwo-bottle kit

The API Goldfish Care Pack puts the two goldfish products in one box. Goldfish Protect conditions tap water and detoxifies the ammonia goldfish release; Goldfish Aquarium Cleaner adds bacteria that break down their waste and keep the gravel clean. Dose 2.5 ml of each for every 3.8 litres, once a week with a partial water change. When you add water between changes, or when a test shows ammonia, dose Goldfish Protect on its own at the same rate. It is the routine for a goldfish bowl or a small tank in a single purchase.

How do I use the two bottles together?

Once a week, change about 25% of the water, then add 2.5 ml of Goldfish Protect and 2.5 ml of Goldfish Aquarium Cleaner for every 3.8 litres the tank holds — roughly 6.5 ml of each in a 10-litre tank. If you top the tank up between changes, add Goldfish Protect alone for the new water at the same rate, and do the same across the whole tank whenever an ammonia test reads above zero. The cleaner stays on its weekly schedule. An unfiltered bowl needs a much bigger weekly change — the goldfish packs recommend up to 80% — so the pack is a routine, not a substitute for new water.

Condition and clean in one weekly routine

Goldfish water needs two things at once: protection from the ammonia the fish produce and help breaking down what they leave behind. The pack pairs a conditioner that handles chlorine, chloramine and ammonia with a bacterial cleaner for the sludge, dosed together once a week at 2.5 ml of each per 3.8 litres.

Protect alone when topping up or testing high

The pack directions single out Goldfish Protect for two extra moments: whenever water is added to the tank, and whenever an ammonia test shows ammonia present. In both cases dose it at the weekly rate; the cleaner stays on its once-a-week schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Goldfish Care Pack suitable for a bowl without a filter?

Yes, with a large weekly water change — the goldfish range recommends 80% for unfiltered environments. The conditioner protects against ammonia between changes and the cleaner reduces sludge.

Can I use the pack with other fish?

Both products are water treatments and are safe for the tank mates usually kept with goldfish, but the dosing is set for goldfish-sized waste loads.

How long does the pack last?

On a 10-litre goldfish tank dosed weekly, the two bottles cover months of routine care. Each product is also sold separately in 118 ml bottles.
